Kid Gloves

Geoff Campion illustrates this story from the Valiant dated 20th April 1963.
Makes me smile, the cod  'Injun' dialogue with lots of 'Ayee-ahhs!', 'Ayee!'s and 'Ugh!'s. Do I hear a 'Wah! Paleface!'?

The House of Dolmann

More Dolmann oddness supplied by Eric Bradbury. Valiant, 21st October 1967. I love EB's dark Gothic line-work. This is the antithesis of the bright, Pop Art 1960s isn't it? Darkness pervades, even in broad  daylight. Very creepy, very unsettling... Brrrr!!

More Dolmann available for viewing here.

Kelly's Eye

Some gothic  naughtiness from Solano Lopez circa 17th April 1965. I've seen this particular Valiant strip reprinted in Vulcan in the 70s. I'd love to see it again. Any chance of another Albion book from Titan?

The House of Dolmann

From Valiant, March 4th 1967. Eric Bradbury provides art for this series. Dolmann uses 'mechanical dolls' to fight crime. He throws his voice to make the dolls 'talk'. He's complete nut-job isn't he? Look at the sequence on page two: there's at least six dolls having an argument! I bet if you could hear them speak there'd ALL sound different. He reminds me a little of the JF Sebastian character in Bladerunner: he lived all alone with mechanical people too.

*Remember folks: A complete Dolmann adventure is one of the stories included in the Albion Origins book. Go here to purchase.

From the Vaults of Time

Art by Solano Lopez from Valiant, 4th May 1963. Or should I say: from the Solano Lopez studio? Anyway, dinosaurs brought back to life and re-introduced into modern society with disasterous results. As usual...

Trail to Nowhere

From Valiant 15th june 1974. Mike Western draws this, um, Western adventure.... I like the lettering on this. I wonder if MW lettered this one himself? The balloons seem to be integrated into the artwork rather than just pasted onto it as is the usual case. Anyway, I'm pretty sure the sound effects are by Western. You'll also notice a couple of blown-up frames underneath the episode. I love the way he creates light and shadow.
