Some original art by Brian Lewis for issue 75 of 2000AD, dated 29th July 1978. His Dredd looks a bit shonky, but I love how he rendered the combined Landraider/Killdozer vehicle. He would have been great for 2000AD, but he died in 1978 after only contributing a handful of covers for this and Starlord, plus a Dan Dare story.
Coming soon in 2022, Brian Bolland: The Apex Edition, an oversize book featuring scans of his original artwork. Check the 2000AD website for details. It's interesting to see that Dredd's belt buckle has a patch over it.
Here's a panel detail from the Dredd story, Punks Rule from 2000AD issue 110 dated 28th April 1979.
A nice Mick McMahon cover for the 2019 2000AD Sci-Fi Special.
Hm, I don't know of many artists whose style has mutated so much from year-to-year. I'll have to do a page of comparisons at some point.
