Espers
While not 'technically' British comics, apart from the writer and publisher, Espers was drawn, coloured and lettered by Brits. So there! It's a cool series and the writer, James Hudnall's Age of Heroes, is at this very moment appearing in Strip Magazine. Anyway, there's a cool roster of cover artists, plus David Lloyd and John Burns providing interior art along the way.

Original artwork
If you head over to Comic Book Auctions you'll find a treasure-trove of goodies up for offer.
(In a Spike Milligan voice) "Ah, I see you bought the whole collection? SO rich!!"

Sexton Blake Library 736 cover art by Eric Parker (1941).
Beryl The Peril by David Law for The Topper (1950s).
Leo Baxendale talks about Davey Law in his book, 'A Very Funny Business', ( a great book, by the way) about how DL agonised/laboured over his pages. The art 'looked' simple, but the images didn't flow out of the artist so easily. It's kinda evident when looking at the patches pasted all over this original.

Captain Condor by Keith Watson from Lion 7 Oct 1961. I really like the spaceship design.
Eartha, (early 1980s) episode 6 drawn by Jon M Burns for The News Of The World Sunday Colour Magazine.

Original art
Over on the Comic Book Auctions site there's an interesting mix of original art for sale. I thought I'd put a few images up for you to peruse:

Frank Bellamy. It's interesting how some artists go 'beyond the call of duty' with their art. That first frame would have looked perfectly fine with TB 2's shadow as a solid. But FB must have spent a while creating those squiggles to give the frame a bit of extra 'oomph'! Something extra for the eye to dwell on...

Martin Asbury. Anyone know how MA created that bubbly texture behind Apollo in frame one and the planet in the last frame? Would it be something like soap or washing up liquid mixed in with the colour?
